Papunique Man on a Mission

After my 12month working holiday in the USA I decided to get back into papillons. I was lucky enough to get Kyo not long after my return. He was 6 months old and already a beauty.

Baby Kyo got off to a flying start in the ring taking out a 25 point Best of Breed at 7 months old. Unfortunately I was inexperienced and didn’t realise he had come to me with an impacted baby canine which I was told by several breeders not to remove and subsequently damaged Kyo’s mouth causing me to pull him from the ring.
There were several times during his life I wanted to get him back into the ring but fate it seemed was against him. In 2012 during my 6 week trip to Europe he developed an allergy I was unaware off and scratched his ears raw, treatment was a long process but successful & almost two ears later I was happy enough with their regrowth to start entering him again…It was Christmas day when I discovered that someone had taken scissors to his fringing, maybe he could have been shown like that but I was devastated. In 2016 the poor little thing fell awkwardly off a couch and twisted his back, the vet wasn’t worried his spine/discs and with 6 months of careful exercises he was almost his old self again only lacking a touch of his former drive. Nothing, can dampen this little guy spirit. He’s dedicated to loving life, loving people and loving adventure. Never was a dog so aptly named as Mr Man on a Mission.

In 2017 I was visiting a friend in Adelaide & we decided to do some dog shows while I was there, figuring I had to bring Kyo with me I entered him on a whim, just once out of the 5 shows we attended. Amazingly my little beauty, despite not having a single upper canine left managed to take out the Dog Challenge (Winner dog) against VERY touch competition. What’s more he LOVED being back in the ring!
Needless to say I decided that if I was going to show my girls I may as well show my boy as well! Kyo, not long after his 8th birthday & winning as often as not against stunning competition (many of whom I wouldn’t mind owning I don’t mind saying) gained his final points being awarded Best of Breed against very stiff competition at the Campbelltown & District All Breeds Kennel Club show and is now on 107 points, hopefully to gain his championship pending Dogs Victoria review.
I couldn’t be happier! As it was another show I entered (suggestion of Sharon Spooner) purely because I was in the area,
